Sistema Museale Valtellina

The Valtellina museum system was created to coordinate, enhance and develop local museums not only as cultural centres, but also as places of meeting and aggregation.

The organization of events, the proposal of educational workshops, the implementation of communication and promotion initiatives, as well as cataloguing campaigns are some of the activities coordinated by the museum system to offer citizens more and more qualified museum services.

The main focus of the System and its museums is on local communities, who should feel the museum as a part of their homes and participate in building and narrating "the history and stories of the museum". Nonetheless, it is also for tourists, who should perceive the museum as a welcoming place, where they can learn about the local culture through a simple visit or participation in events and activities.
